ABOUT

Powerful Histories works with schools, business leaders and social organisations who want to lead change and build Totally Inclusive communities in which everyone can thrive.

The need to eradicate racism, misogyny, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia and unconscious bias is now immediate, fuelled by the activism of a younger generation who are much more likely not only to embrace diversity, but demand it. The journey towards Total Inclusivity begins by breaking down dominant knowledge hierarchies. Understanding ‘what we learn’, ‘why we learn it’ and ‘how we learn it’ is an integral part of this process.

The Totally Inclusive Curriculum Programme creates opportunities for every member of the community to recognise, value, protect and nurture diverse identities.

“As a strong advocate of social justice movements and with an expertise in black history, I have been extremely keen to involve myself in as many aspects of the debate concerning BLM and racial equality as possible. My work predominantly involves engaging schools and businesses in the form of workshops, seminars and talks to promote an awareness of the history of racism and equality in Britain. Sadly, this is something that has not been adequately addressed in current discussions surround race and identity. We are seeing the consequences of this in the antipathy towards BLM activists. If we look at the historical context, racism is a top-down, human construct built upon economic exploitation of non-white people. If we begin to see racism in this way, we can change the narrative and begin to create a fairer, more equal society”
