Understanding the background of the communities in which we live and work is fundamental to the cultivation of positive, productive relationships and cultivating a culture of belonging and inclusion. This pioneering 3-stage project is intended to engage members of local communities in the creation, collation and publication of community histories to influence organisational approaches to equality, diversity and inclusion. Researching the life experiences and stories of participants in local communities through oral testimonies, focus groups, and documentary records, the outcomes of the project will also be used to empower participants as conduits for change by informing decisions regarding opportunity, quality of life and improvement pathways. It is anticipated that the project will help facilitate the building of inclusive communities, addressing key challenges concerning identity and belonging in the UK.
